Reyes Winery Uncorks a Deal 🍇

Reyes Winery, our local vineyard virtuoso, is now on the market for a cool $2.7 million. That's about 54,000 bottles of their finest Cabernet, in case you're wondering.

This isn't your average real estate listing. The lucky buyer gets 16 acres of award-winning grapes, a 4,392-square-foot home, and the right to casually drop "my vineyard" into conversations at parties. Talk about a conversation starter.

Owner Robert Reyes is ready to pass the bottle, er, torch, but don't worry – he'll stick around to help with the transition. After all, winemaking isn't something you learn from a YouTube tutorial.

Old Glory's Landmark Moment 🌳

Remember the great tree sit of 2003? When John Quigley spent 71 days playing house in a 400-year-old oak? Well, that arboreal VIP, affectionately known as "Old Glory," is about to get its moment in the sun.

Supervisor Kathryn Barger has introduced a motion to grant Old Glory official historic landmark status. It's like getting knighted, but for trees. This oak has witnessed more history than your high school textbook, having taken root around the time the Mayflower was making waves.

In 2004, Old Glory pulled off the ultimate relocation, moving a quarter-mile down Pico Canyon Road. It even snagged a Guinness World Record for being the largest transplanted tree. Who says you can't teach an old oak new tricks?

Next time you're in Pico Canyon Park, give Old Glory a nod. It's not just a tree – it's a living, breathing (well, photosynthesizing) piece of SCV history. And unlike most of us, it's actually improving with age.
