A Once-in-a-Lifetime Comet ✨

Have you ever wanted to witness something so rare that it makes a four-leaf clover look like a dandelion? Well, here’s your shot. Valencia resident James de Bree decided to leave behind the comfort of his couch to catch a glimpse of the C/2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS comet—with a little help from some binoculars and a retired NASA expert (because why not add some space street cred to the equation?).

This isn’t just any comet; it’s the kind of celestial visitor that doesn’t RSVP twice. Picture an 80,000-year encore blazing across the sky—it's like the universe’s one-hit wonder doing an exclusive reunion tour.

It’ll be visible low in the west just after sunset, according to NASA. The best time to catch it is between Oct. 14 and Oct. 26.

So, dust off those binoculars, find a good spot, and look westward. The universe doesn’t do reruns, and this comet is about to leave us on the ultimate cliffhanger.

Lights, Camera, SCV! 🍿

Santa Clarita’s back in action, and this week three productions are in town: TV shows "Dr. Odyssey" and "SWAT," plus the feature film "Alien Horde." The city’s film scene has been booming, and if you’ve seen the Santa Clarita backdrop in countless TV shows and movies—well, congrats, you live in "Hollywood North."

2022 was a record year for filming here, with more than $38 million pumped into the local economy. If you happen to spot a SWAT van that looks a little too real—don’t worry, it’s just Hollywood magic.

Walgreens is making some… changes. 1,200 stores across the U.S. will be closing by 2027. With five locations in Santa Clarita, we’re left to wonder if any of ours will be joining the 'vanishing act.' Walgreens calls it "footprint optimization," which sounds like a corporate version of Marie Kondo—keeping only what sparks joy (or in this case, profit). With Amazon continuing to shake things up, Walgreens is trimming down to stay competitive. So, if your local Walgreens suddenly vanishes, just remember: it’s all part of their tidy-up strategy—let's hope it sparks some positive change.
