Old Orchard Park Set for a Major Makeover 🏞️

Santa Clarita’s Old Orchard Park is about to get a serious glow-up. This beloved 5.4-acre park, a community staple since 1968, is gearing up for a transformation that will bring new life to its already scenic landscape. And it all kicks off with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, October 2 at 10:00 a.m.

What’s in store? Think new playgrounds with shade (no more scorching slides), an ADA-friendly restroom, and the much-anticipated pickleball court overlay on the existing basketball court. Oh, and a brand-new multisport court for endless family fun and friendly competition.

With construction slated to wrap by summer 2025, Old Orchard Park is about to become the ultimate neighborhood hangout. Stay tuned to the City’s social media (@CityofSantaClarita) for updates and sneak peeks as this park gets its much-needed upgrade.

A Western Thriller Right in SCV 📖

Author J.R. Sanders just dropped a western mystery that puts SCV’s rich history in the spotlight. A Killing Way takes place in 1939 with William S. Hart (yes, that William S. Hart) hiring a private investigator to recover a stolen painting from his Newhall ranch.

The book isn’t just about dusty cowboys and high-noon showdowns. It’s a noir-western mashup that brings SCV locations like Hart’s Horseshoe Ranch and Melody Ranch back to life, reminding us that western films are in SCV’s blood. If you’re a fan of gritty detective stories mixed with wild west flair, this one’s for you.

Sanders’ book is a love letter to the classic westerns made here in Santa Clarita, proving that the genre isn’t dead. It’s just getting started again, right in our backyard.
