Tales from the Crypt (aka Los Angeles) 👻
Take a quick drive down the 5 and you’ll learn that L.A.’s got some shadows lurking in its history. Whether it’s Hollywood ghosts, true crime mysteries, or spooky sets from iconic horror shows, the City of Angels has a darker side. Here are the places that’ll have you sleeping with one eye open.
American Horror Story House: Fans of the show know it as “Murder House,” but 1120 Westchester Place in L.A. has a long history of creeping people out, even before it starred in season one of AHS. Built in 1902, it was home to nuns for over 50 years, but now its eerie, castle-like facade draws thrill-seekers from all over. Rumor has it the walls whisper... or maybe that's just the wind...
Bela Lugosi’s Apartment: Dracula himself, Bela Lugosi, walked among us in L.A., and his final strolls often led him to his favorite cigar shop. After his death, the hearse carrying his body reportedly acted up as it passed the shop, like Lugosi wasn’t quite ready to give up the ghost. Literally.
Linda Vista Hospital: Once a bustling hospital for railroad workers, this now-abandoned building has become a hotspot for paranormal activity. Closed in 1991, its creepy halls have been featured in everything from Insidious to Day of the Dead. Ghost tours, anyone?
Dare to explore these haunts? Just don’t blame me if you have nightmares.

Caution Ahead: Lane Closures You Can’t Avoid 🛑
As if commuting wasn’t already its own kind of horror story, Caltrans is here to spice things up. On October 3rd and 4th this week, the 405 near the 5 interchange will be down to a crawl (literally). Here’s the breakdown:
Southbound 405: Up to two lanes will be closed from I-5 to north of Rinaldi St. from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
Truck lanes: Southbound I-5/405 truck lanes closed 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Rinaldi St. exit: Closed both nights from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
If you’re hoping to dodge the traffic, plan your escape routes now. As always, drive safely through the construction zones. Unless you're into bumper-to-bumper views at midnight.

Castaic’s Hispanic Heritage Celebration 🕺
Salsa, empanadas, and folklorico dancers—Castaic went full fiesta for Hispanic Heritage Month last weekend, and the vibe was 🔥. Local community parks transformed into vibrant hubs celebrating Hispanic culture, with food, music, and dance performances taking center stage.
Castaic Regional Sports Complex: Guests not only feasted on traditional eats but also learned how to make salsa (the food, not the dance, but both were in abundance). The evening culminated with live mariachi music, reminding us all why Hispanic culture is a cornerstone of L.A.’s identity.
Val Verde Community Park: In a smaller but just as lively celebration, attendees learned the basics of salsa dancing, while local families gathered for crafts, music, and community bonding. The turnout was intimate, but the impact? Priceless.
Missed it? No worries, these parks host cultural events year-round. Keep an eye out for the next opportunity to salsa your way into a celebration.

All Aboard! Princess Cruises Celebrates Major Milestone 🌟
Valencia-based Princess Cruises just floated their latest creation, the Star Princess, in a ceremony that can only be described as grand. This 4,300-guest mega-ship, still under construction, is set to debut in Fall 2025. Why care? This floating city will be packed with cutting-edge features like The Dome (think geodesic wonder) and The Arena, a theater at sea. Plus, it’s all eco-friendly, running on liquefied natural gas.
Fun fact: The ceremony’s tradition—literally floating the ship for the first time—is centuries old. And now you know a bit of fancy ship lingo.
For those eager to sail into the future, voyages are already on sale.
