Play with Purpose! 🎯🍻

The 3rd Annual Cornhole Tournament is happening on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Lucky Luke Brewing in Santa Clarita—and it's all for a great cause!

Join in to support the Samuel Dixon Family Health Center’s Behavioral Health Department, which provides essential mental health services to local youth, adults, and families. Your participation helps fund counseling in schools, after-school programs, and more.

Grab a partner, pick a team name, and compete for the grand prize! Whether you’re a pro or new to cornhole, all skill levels are welcome.

SENSES turns Main Street into the ultimate third-Thursday vibe, and this month’s theme is Date Night. Whether you’re rolling deep with your soulmate or speed-walking solo with a churro, it’s gonna be a good time.

🧸 LEAP Children’s Museum Pop-Up: Wellness Through Play | 9:00 AM–4:15 PM | Valencia Town Center Patios | Free (registration recommended) | Little bodies, big wellness! This pop-up from LEAP Children’s Museum invites kids ages 2–6 to explore health and happiness through play. From a pretend medical station to a hands-on fitness zone, every activity is designed to teach self-care in a fun, kid-friendly way. Sessions run throughout the day, with a special low-sensory hour at noon.

🎭 CTG: The Last Romance | 8:00 PM | Canyon Theatre Guild, Newhall | $15–$20 | Love might not come around twice… unless you’re Ralph. This charming comedy follows a widower whose daily walk takes a detour into unexpected romance. Sweet, funny, and surprisingly moving — it’s like a Hallmark movie but with better acting. Not ideal for little kids, but perfect for a date night or a “take your mom” outing. Remaining shows: June 20 (8pm), June 21 & 28 (2pm), June 29 (7pm).

🤠 Hoedown for Hope | 6–10pm | Gilchrist Farm | $59 GA, $99 VIP | Grab your cowboy boots and hit the farm — it’s time to two-step for a cause. ⚾️ 46th Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day | 7:10pm | Dodger Stadium | $53–$120 | Dodger dogs, bobbleheads, and a sea of SCV locals in blue — it’s the 46th Annual Santa Clarita Dodger Day! Watch the Dodgers take on the Nationals and score a free Ice Cube bobblehead (first 40K fans). Bonus: the first 300 SCV ticket buyers get a free drawstring bag, and there’s a $3 shuttle from town. 💡 Experience a summer night like no other at Central Park! Next week, on Wednesday, June 25 at 7:30 p.m., the City of Santa Clarita will unveil River of Lights—a brand-new public art installation that blends storytelling, environmental awareness, and pure magic. Nearly 200 embedded lights trace the park’s walkways and staircase, mimicking the shimmer of flowing water and shifting with the colors of the sunset. At its center stands When Cloud Met a Cloud, a 14-foot steel-and-raindrop sculpture by artist Sujin Lim. Enjoy lawn games, a “Pop-Up and Play” zone for kids, and a live concert by the Santa Clarita Symphony Orchestra as the lights turn on for the very first time. 🧃 Grocery workers vote to authorize strike action across SoCal! UFCW union members representing 45,000 grocery store employees—including workers at Ralphs, Vons, and Pavilions—have overwhelmingly voted to authorize an unfair labor practice strike in response to what they say are union-busting tactics and stalled contract negotiations with Kroger and Albertsons. While a strike hasn’t been called yet, negotiations are scheduled to continue June 25–27. If talks break down, this could become the largest grocery strike in recent history—just in time for summer shopping season. (The Signal)

🧪 CSUN professor awarded prestigious Fulbright for climate + biofuel research! Dr. Chhandak Basu, a cell and molecular biologist at Cal State Northridge, has been selected as a Distinguished Fulbright Scholar—a highly competitive honor awarded to top researchers worldwide. Basu will spend the next two summers at the University of São Paulo in Brazil, studying how drought stress impacts the potential for biofuels made from plants like sugarcane and green foxtail.
