Honoring Local Veterans 🪖 

On Monday, November 11, Santa Clarita is doing what we do best—showing love for our local heroes. The Veterans Day Ceremony is back at Veterans Historical Plaza in Old Town Newhall, starting at 11:00 a.m. If you've ever wanted to feel humbled by pure courage and sacrifice, this is your chance. Hear from Reverend Alice E R McDermott (aka Squadron Leader, Royal Air Force), witness a flag-changing ceremony by the Knights of Columbus, and enjoy a special reading in honor of POW/MIA veterans by Jerry Rhodes. The event also features a performance by U.S. Navy veteran Terrell Edwards, so you know there’ll be some patriotic tunes in the air.

Why go? It’s a chance to stand alongside your community, pay respects to the veterans who live among us, and reflect on what this day truly means. Plus, it's Old Town Newhall—perfect for a post-ceremony coffee or brunch! That’s a win, win in my book.

🚧 Traffic Advisory: Lane Closures on McBean & Newhall Ranch Roads

Brace yourselves… starting tomorrow, McBean Parkway at Newhall Ranch Road will see some night-time lane closures for median modifications. Crews will be adding a left turn lane on northbound McBean, which should help traffic flow better (eventually). But for now, expect some delays between 8:30 PM and 4:30 AM as the project runs through November 8.

If you're a night owl or early bird commuter, you’ve been warned: plan those detours and prep your playlist for the inevitable stop-and-go. Your future self, cruising through Santa Clarita, will thank you.

Jailhouse Rock (Halloween Edition) 👻

Stop the presses – our local sheriff's station just won Halloween. This Sunday, they transformed their jailhouse into the kind of haunted house that makes Spirit Halloween look like amateur hour.

Picture this: Bomb squad experts showing off their robots (interesting flex but here for it), a 5-year-old rocking a headless Snow White costume (Zoe Coffey, you're going places), and deputies proving they can scare AND serve. Deputy Jensen was there basically being the world's most qualified tour guide through what might be the only time you'll actually want to visit a jail cell.

Fifth time's the charm for SCV Water Agency! They've snagged their fifth consecutive WaterSense Excellence Award from the EPA, proving they're not just good at moving water – they're exceptional at saving it too.
