š Over the weekend, Trenton Irwinās 4th annual youth football camp at Hart High School brought over 200 SCV kids for a day of drills, coaching, and NFL inspiration. Irwin, joined by 10 other NFL players, led the camp with everything from passing drills to dive-and-catch challenges, giving kids a taste of the pros. Irwin, who credits these camps for his own success, was excited to give back to the community, inspiring future football starsāand maybe even future college athletes. With smiles all around, it was a day of learning, fun, and the hope that dreams can come true. (The Signal)
Business
šļø The city of Santa Clarita is mulling over a proposal for a 341-home senior community in Sand Canyon, dubbed Belcaro of Sand Canyon, where 55+ residents can live their best wellness-focused lives. Located east of Lost Canyon Road, this gated development promises a hefty dose of open space (over half the land) and 4.4 miles of trailsāperfect for those ready to swap their lawn chairs for some scenic walks. The project would also extend Lost Canyon Road with a bridgeāno big deal, just some minor infrastructure tweaks. But with plans to mess with ridgelines, lot sizes, and a potential density bonus (meaning more homes than the original zoning allowed), it's still in the planning stages. Expect the proposal to hit City Council for approval next spring, after the environmental review gets rolling this month. Sounds like a whole new chapter for Sand Canyon! (The Signal)
Education
šļø The third annual Hart District Film Festival lit up the red carpet at Valencia High Schoolās newly renovated theater on Friday, showcasing 18 student-made short films and music videos. The event was a huge success, thanks to the vision of senior Cameron Gezerseh, who wanted to unite fellow film lovers across the districtāwhether they make movies or just talk about them. Gezersehās final festival upped the ante with live-streaming and a revamped venue. Among the featured films were "The Cat and the Cavalry," a crime drama from junior Gavin Helms, and "Man or Mug," a quirky existential tale by Jordan Wheeler. The crowd roared with excitement, especially during the jump scares of āHallway,ā a horror film by Ryder Boyd. Gezersehās bittersweet farewell didnāt stop the night from being a hit. The event brought together the next generation of filmmakers in styleāwho knows, maybe some future Oscar winners were in that crowd!(The Signal)
