Look, we know emergency planning isn't exactly fun weekend material, but with this Red Flag warning hanging around until Friday, it's worth taking five minutes to think about our furry family members. LA County Animal Care and Control is here to help us get our act together, because we all know that one cat who would never forgive you for forgetting their favorite toy in an evacuation.

The Department's Noah's Legacy Fund is doing the heavy lifting to make sure no pet gets left behind during emergencies. They've got a whole checklist ready for you (and yes, it includes treats – we checked).

Steampunk Dreams Brought to Life ⚙️

Remember when you were a kid and your parents told you not to play with plumbing parts? Just me? Well, Patrick Kenney of Valencia didn't get that memo, and thank goodness for that. At 78, this former pharmacist has turned his garage into what can only be described as the coolest workshop in SCV.

Picture this: vintage pharmacy bottles, toilet floats pretending to be steampunk weather balloons, and more copper pipes than you can shake a wrench at. His wife says their house has hit "peak steampunk," but we're pretty sure that's just a challenge to Pat to get more creative with storage.

McBean's Getting a Midnight Makeover 🚧

Starting Wednesday, November 13, if you’re navigating McBean Parkway near Newhall Ranch Road, prepare for some detours. Crews will be working on median upgrades and a new left-turn lane to (hopefully) make traffic a bit smoother.

Closures kick in from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. weeknights, plus a weekend blitz from November 15-18. If late-night drives are in your plans, map out your routes and keep an eye on those neon detour signs. Safety first, folks!

For the latest updates, follow the city’s social media and keep your playlists queued up for those longer-than-usual drives.

Santa Clarita’s Big Business News 💼 

Santa Clarita is once again in the spotlight, earning a finalist spot for the 2024 “Most Business-Friendly City” award. The city is up for this prestigious honor at the 29th Annual Eddy Awards, held on November 6 at the LA Memorial Coliseum. However this isn’t our first rodeo—Santa Clarita has won before in 2008, 2016, and 2022, proving that when it comes to business growth and community vibes, we’ve got it down.
