🐣 Eggs, slides, and splashes—oh my! The Splash N’ Dash Egg Hunt is diving back into the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center on Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m., and it’s egg-stra fun for kids ages 10 and under! Picture this: hundreds of eggs zooming down the waterslide into the pool for eager kiddos to scoop up. The first 200 egg-hunters will score a free reusable bag from Kaiser Permanente, and yes—lifejackets are available at no cost for the littles. The event is free and open to walk-ins, but registration is encouraged! Oh—and don’t forget to bring a non-perishable food item for the SCV Food Pantry! (The City of Santa Clarita)

💼 Santa Clarita’s job game? Quietly crushing it. As of February, we’re clocking 117,300 jobs—more than we had before the pandemic—with unemployment chilling at 5.5%. Sure, we dipped a bit from last fall’s record high (blame seasonal gigs winding down), but we’re still ahead of the curve, especially compared to places like Glendale that haven’t bounced back yet. And with 450 new businesses popping up in early 2024 alone, it’s clear SCV isn’t just keeping up—it’s carving out its own lane. (The Signal)

🎤 The Santa Clarita Master Chorale is bringing big ‘60s energy to their annual Cabaret & Cabernet benefit, “The Beat Goes On,” happening Saturday, April 26 at the Hyatt Regency Valencia. Guests will enjoy an evening of wine, dinner, and live music featuring Motown hits, Neil Diamond, Sonny & Cher classics, and more—all performed by the Chorale. The event also includes a silent auction and themed cocktails, with individual tickets starting at $150. VIP tables include extra perks (and yes, dressing in your best ‘60s look is highly encouraged).

Sports

🏀 Kaleb Lowery just made TMU hoops history—again. The senior standout was named a First Team NAIA All-American for the third consecutive year, capping off a season where he averaged a career-best 18.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Lowery leaves The Master’s University with more than just eye-popping stats (2,325 career points, 1,261 rebounds, and 474 free throws made)—he also leaves as one of only two Mustangs to ever earn All-American honors three times. “It’s been one of the best, most enjoyable basketball experiences I’ve ever had,” he said. Education

🧠 Valencia High School junior Andrew Kim just pulled off a brainiac double whammy—perfect scores on both the PSAT and the ACT. That’s a 1520 and a 36, respectively, and a feat only about 1% of students nationwide manage to achieve (once, let alone twice!). Andrew credits his parents for keeping him motivated, on track, and well-stocked with study materials—even when procrastination called. With big plans to study psychology in college, it’s safe to say he’s already passed the first major test(s) of academic success. (The Signal)
