🏀 The Canyon boys' basketball team made history Friday night, securing their first-ever CIF Southern Section Division 2A title after a triple-overtime thriller against St. Bonaventure, 89-86. With the game looking like it might go into a fourth overtime, senior Noah Madrigal banked a buzzer-beating 3-pointer off the backboard to seal the win. It was an emotional night for the Cowboys, who’ve been playing together since fifth grade. With clutch shots from Eric Kubel and Isaac Yuhico, and stellar defense from Sean Hernandez, the team showed heart, grit, and an endless supply of energy. After an exhausting battle, Canyon earned a moment they'll never forget, securing the championship and setting their sights on the state tournament. 🥕 State Superintendent Tony Thurmond is on a mission to get more organic food into California school lunches, and he’s not doing it alone. Partnering with Conscious Kitchen, Thurmond kicked off the “Mission Possible: Go Organic” initiative to encourage local school districts to pledge to add more organic ingredients to their meals. During a recent webinar, nutrition directors from Capistrano and West Contra Costa school districts shared their success stories, with West Contra Costa now serving up 60% organic ingredients in their meals. Meanwhile, Hikari Farms owner Janet Nagamine spoke about using her organic farm to help fight childhood obesity and diabetes. Thurmond’s goal?
