🤫 Whisper your SCV secrets… into the sidewalk. Santa Clarita Arts is accepting entries for the 2026 Sidewalk Poetry Project—your chance to have an original short poem literally stamped into fresh concrete around town. This year’s theme, “Share a Santa Clarita Secret,” invites hidden trails, grandma’s recipes, paseos-at-sunset vibes, and all the textures/sounds/colors that make SCV, well, SCV. Anyone can enter (no experience needed), but it’s one poem per person, original work only, in free verse or short forms (haiku, distich, cinquain). Deadline: Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025. Selected poets score a $150 stipend and an invite to a fall 2026 dedication when the verses go public. Submit at SantaClaritaArts.com or email [email protected]. (City of Santa Clarita)
Business
📚 Valencia author turns page into business venture. Local actor-filmmaker-turned-author Stephen Michael Kelly has released a new children’s book, The Adventures of Rex and Daisy: Henry Does His Best. The story focuses on resilience, teamwork, and empathy, and it’s already being positioned for classroom use with a free teacher’s guide included to support schools and libraries. Available now through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and bookstores nationwide, the release reflects the growing business of children’s publishing — where community-rooted stories like Kelly’s can find both educational impact and commercial success. Entertainment
🍷🔍 Wine, but make it spooky. Hart & Main is hosting Wine & Crime on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 6:30 to 11 p.m. in Old Town Newhall, and it’s serving murder mystery vibes with a side of merlot. The evening kicks off with food, cocktails, and mingling, then pivots into a true crime discussion and story time (because what pairs better with cabernet than cold cases?). After that, the DJ takes over for dancing — plus some surprise extras. Local brand Care Tucker is also dropping its Fall Collection during the event, so you can sip, sleuth, and shop in one night. Tickets are limited, and Hart & Main events tend to sell out faster than a bottle of rosé on a Friday afternoon! (SCV News)
