THE DIGEST
Dive into the Symphony of Colors 🎨
Feeling like your week could use a little extra color? Swing by the “Symphony of Colors” exhibit at Old Town Newhall Library, where local artist Zony Gordon is basically throwing a color party on canvas until October 16. This isn’t your run-of-the-mill art display—it’s a full-on celebration of California’s natural beauty, with a side of serious talent.
Zony Gordon is all about capturing the magic of California’s scenery, gardens, and wildlife. Her work is like a love letter to nature, packed with vibrant colors and stunning contrasts that’ll have you seeing the world in a whole new light. Plus, she’s not just an artist—she’s a local legend, a teacher, and a judge who’s got more awards than you have unread emails.
Trust me, whether you’re an art aficionado or just looking for something cool to do in town, this exhibit is a must-see.

Make a Splash 🌊
Cooling off from the summer heat AND keeping the kids entertained? Say less. Cali Splash Park at Castaic Lake has got you covered. As Southern California’s largest inflatable aquapark, this floating paradise is packed with 35 obstacles, slides, bouncers, and wiggle bridges that’ll keep everyone splashing and smiling all day long.
But that’s not all—after you’ve mastered the aquapark, you can chill on the swimming beach, rent a boat or kayak, or fire up the grill at the barbeque area. It’s the perfect family day out, with prices ranging from $28-$49. Open Thursdays through Sundays, this is where summer memories are made.
So, pack up the kids, slather on the sunscreen, and get ready for a day of epic fun at one of the coolest spots in SCV.

Hart District Preps Students for Success 🎒
Back-to-school just got a serious upgrade! The Hart District’s been busy handing out backpacks filled with school supplies, making sure every student starts the year fully loaded—pencils, notebooks, the works. It’s basically the school year’s version of Santa Claus, and the social workers and volunteers deserve a huge high-five for pulling it off.
If you love a good feel-good moment, this is it. Plus, knowing our community is looking out for each other? That’s what makes SCV so special.
LOCAL BUSINESS
🚧 Will Saugus Speedway Say Goodbye?
Alright, SCV, here’s the deal—our beloved Santa Clarita Swap Meet might be facing its final curtain call. Longtime vendors are seriously sweating over the potential closure of the Saugus Speedway, the spot that’s been their home turf for years. And honestly, who can blame them? For many, this biweekly treasure hunt isn’t just about finding killer deals—it’s about making a living.
With around 400 vendors relying on the swap meet, folks are hoping for a solution that keeps this community hub alive. The Bonelli family, who’s been running the show, is ready to move on, and the future of the swap meet is up in the air.
But all hope isn’t lost yet. Whether the city or another organization steps in, everyone’s watching to see what’s next. Could this be the end, or is there a new chapter waiting to be written? We’ll stay close on this one.
🦉 Feathered Friends & Fresh Air at Placerita Canyon
Calling all early risers and nature lovers! If you’re looking for a peaceful way to kick off your weekend, the Placerita Canyon Nature Center has just the thing. Every first and second Saturday morning of the month, local bird enthusiasts gather for a two-hour stroll through the canyon, led by the expert eyes of Rosemarie Regis and Ken Yasukawa.
From the rhythmic pecking of Acorn Woodpeckers to the soft coos of morning doves, this bird walk is like a live soundtrack of nature’s greatest hits. And if you’re lucky, you might just spot Sierra, the resident Great-Horned Owl (who’s basically the Beyoncé of the bird world)
So grab your binoculars, bring your curiosity, and join the flock for a morning that’s sure to soar!
