Great news, SCV! We've just been ranked the 8th safest city in the U.S. by PropertyClub. With a crime rate 44% lower than the national average, it seems criminals have decided to trade in their shady activities for opening artisanal coffee shops.

Sure, we lost to Naperville, IL (apparently, cornfields aren’t scary anymore?!)—but hey, at least we’re safe in our beautiful city, even if the biggest crime is what we’re paying in property taxes.

College of the Canyons might be getting student housing! That's right, COC is growing up faster than a teenager who discovered coffee and hair gel in the same week. The proposed dorm would house 209 students, complete with laundry rooms and study areas. Because nothing says "higher education" like learning to separate your whites and colors at 2 AM before a final.

To qualify, students need to meet certain income requirements. It's a great opportunity for those who've mastered the art of making ramen 73 different ways.

SCV’s Next Big Stars 🎭

The Music Center's Spotlight scholarship competition is now accepting applications. It's like "America's Got Talent," but with less Simon Cowell and more jazz hands. Categories range from ballet to voice, including "classical instrumental" - because nothing says "teen rebel" like mastering the oboe.

With over $100,000 in scholarships and artistic development up for grabs, this isn’t just another talent show. We’re talking auditions, mastery classes with pros, and even a live Grand Finale performance at the iconic Ahmanson Theatre.

Single Mothers Outreach just upgraded to a brand-new office space, and it’s a game-changer. With three times the space, they’ve added private therapy rooms, a learning center, and a children’s play area. A 451-unit project is on the table for the Sierra Highway-Highway 14 corridor. Picture this: 91 single-family homes, 360 apartments/condos, and a clubhouse, all packed into 53 acres.
