Santa Clarita is aiming for gold, and no, we’re not talking about an Olympic bid—yet. The State of the City event, themed “Gold Medal City,” is your chance to find out why SCV is the champion of... well, just about everything. On Thursday, October 17 at 3 p.m., head to the Canyon Country Community Center to hear the City Council’s plans, from a new Valencia Community Center (indoor pool included, so dust off those floaties) to taking over William S. Hart Park to keep it as cowboy as ever.

AP Superstars Crack the Code 🧙‍♀️

What do you get when two AP students decide they’ve had enough of scouring the internet for study resources? A one-stop AP help shop, of course! Meet Valencia High seniors Ritu Yeshala and Samantha Armitage—turning their school’s AP struggles into an organized, stress-busting website. From AP Chemistry woes to APUSH triumphs, these two are here to make sure you’ve got the hacks to pass. The site already covers 18 courses, and though it's still growing, it's got the AP community buzzing.

Yeshala and Armitage might just be superheroes in disguise, making sure the next generation doesn’t go through AP chaos alone. (Caped crusaders of coursework, anyone?)

Hazardous Junk Be Gone 🚜

Got a stash of old motor oil, expired meds, or those truly haunted fluorescent bulbs? It’s time to give your junk the farewell it deserves. This Saturday, October 19, from 9 AM to 3 PM, Santa Clarita is hosting a free Household Hazardous/E-Waste Collection event at the Via Princessa Metrolink Station. No need to put on your hazmat suit—just pack it up, pop it in the trunk, and drive over. Staff will take care of the rest while you stay comfy in your car.

Pro tip: No explosives or random fridges, please—we’re keeping it chill (literally and figuratively).
