$2.3M for Parks & Libraries Security š”ļø
Santa Clarita isnāt playing around when it comes to safety. In response to resident concerns about community security, the City Council is ready to invest over $2.3 million for extra safety measures at SCV parks, libraries, and transit centers. Out with Select Patrol, in with Good Guard Securityābecause nothing says "family-friendly" like a little extra peace of mind.
New contracts also include security for Metrolink stations and the Old Town Newhall parking structure. Councilwoman Laurene Weste, who met with concerned Old Orchard residents, made it clear: "If thereās anything we can do to help, we need to do it now." Catch the Oct. 22 City Council meeting to see just how far SCV is willing to go to keep things clean and safe.

A Weekend of Tradition š
The 30th Annual Hart of the West Pow Wow brought William S. Hart Park alive with culture, tradition, and community vibes. Over 10,000 attendees soaked up the sounds, dances, crafts, and heritage of the FernandeƱo Tataviam Band of Mission Indiansāand then some.
James Morales, a Tataviam tribe member, passionately shared why events like this are crucial: āItās important for us to teach our young ones, to keep them involved.ā From Nevada to Arizona, tribes showed up to support each other, and you could feel the camaraderie. Tribal President Rudy Ortega summed it up best: "Itās communal. Itās really bringing people together, sharing and celebrating." If you missed it, just imagine thousands of people sharing the heartbeat of a drumābecause thatās exactly what it felt like.

What comes next for the property? Thatās still anyoneās guess. But with the Santa Clarita City Council meeting set for Oct. 22, weāll be keeping an eye out for updates on the proposed 320-home Riverview Project. Grab your swap meet treasures while you canāthis is the final curtain call.
