CSUN Is Bringing Diplomas to the Dance Floor 💃

CSUN is now offering a Bachelor’s degree in Dance, and it's not just for those who like to bust a move at weddings. The new program aims to blend art, imagination, and collaboration with enough academic support to prepare students for a professional dance career. Paula Thomson, a kinesiology professor who helped launch the major, says this new path was inspired by students who wanted to focus on the art of dance without getting lost in the sciences.

CSUN’s dance alumni are already making waves in the entertainment industry, and this new degree will only amplify the talent pouring out of the San Fernando Valley. The university’s location—a hop, skip, and plié away from some of L.A.'s most respected dance schools—makes this new program a no-brainer. Plus, with gorgeous studios and access to venues like The Soraya, CSUN’s dancers are well on their way to taking center stage.

TMU’s Monumental Plans ⛪

The Master’s University is gearing up for its 100th birthday by building what they're calling a "landmark" chapel—and it's as grand as it sounds. TMU’s Chapel of the Master is aiming to be the first cathedral-scale chapel on a Protestant university campus since the Great Depression. That’s right—they’re not just building a chapel; they’re building a legacy.

The chapel will be the new venue for student services and many other campus events, replacing the current space in the gymnasium (goodbye, sweaty bleachers). This is all part of TMU's ambitious plan to upgrade their campus, turning what used to be a vacant and slightly vandalized property into something that’s set to be the crown jewel of the Santa Clarita Valley. Whether you're a fan of architecture, community, or just curious about seeing what’s brewing over at TMU, this chapel is set to be a stunning addition to SCV’s skyline.

STEM Gets a County-Wide Upgrade 💻

STEM is expanding its footprint across Los Angeles County with the return of the L.A. STEM Conference—this time, it’s not just for Santa Clarita students. Valencia High School is hosting this year’s event on Saturday, and it’s going to be a nerd’s dream (and we mean that in the best way possible).

From 10 AM to 1 PM, students can visit booths hosted by college clubs like the COC Astrophysics Club, UCLA Saving Hearts Club, and even a researcher from Caltech who works in quantum computing (imagine casually mentioning that at dinner). The conference will also feature guest speakers from startups like Neuron, plus a cash prize competition for students with original STEM project ideas. Whether you're into space, tech, or just want to see what the future looks like, this conference is the place to be.
