Paws Up for Pet Adoption Week 🐾

Cancel your plans and make space on your couch—Pet Adoption Week is back starting October 7, and Santa Clarita is paying your adoption fees at the Castaic Animal Care Center through October 12. That’s right—you could be scrolling through memes one minute and adopting a new BFF the next.

Bonus event: Don’t miss Pet Adoption Day on October 12 at Central Park. From 9 a.m. to noon, you can meet, pet, and fall in love with dogs, cats, and other fur babies who are basically begging for belly rubs. Let’s be honest—you weren’t going to make it out of there without taking one home anyway.

Quick note: You’ll need to pay a tiny licensing fee ($20 for dogs, $5 for cats), but that’s just pocket change for a lifetime of unconditional love and questionable decisions involving chew toys.

The 14th annual Salute to Patriots is coming to the SCV on November 7, and it’s time to nominate the veterans in our community who continue to serve in a different kind of way. The SCV Chamber of Commerce is celebrating veterans who’ve turned their dedication and leadership toward helping the local business scene thrive.

Re-cut, Re-imagined, and Ready for Prime 🎬

Local filmmaker Allen Wolf decided his 2010 thriller In My Sleep wasn’t quite done—so he hit it with the cinematic equivalent of a makeover montage. Wolf trimmed the fat, upgraded the tech (bye-bye, flip phones), and made the whole film feel fresh, intense, and ready for 2024.

Now streaming on Amazon Prime, this re-cut version of In My Sleep tightens the suspense, dials up the tension, and still keeps you guessing whether our sleepwalking protagonist did the unthinkable.
